The Red Granny Smith variety ... entirely unlike the normal Granny Smith in flavour .. in fact, breathtakingly uninteresting, even direct from the tree. Yes, I took photos of every one of them .. and no, you won't have to look at them all.   They had a stack of apples and pears on display - 6 per box and nicely labelled.   Panoramic view over the orchard dedicated to cider apples (95 varieties) and perry pears (20 varieties).  A newly (ish) planted section for apples - usually they plant out at 3 metres between plants, 3 metres between rows - they've gone for about 1 metre spacing between the trees here, so perhaps M27 rootstock?
