This is the island in the middle of the lake. There's a hotel on here that you can stay in, if you're feeling especially rich (about $US300 a night from memory).   Periyar lake. Man-made, you know, by the Brits about a century ago, as a nature reserve. Wonderful foresight by all involved.   Possibly the only half decent shot I got on the entire lake trip (and I took about 250 photos).   Potentially very famous people. I say this because they were staying in the expensive hotel on the island in the middle of the lake. And they had North American accents. And they didn't talk to me, which just proves it.   Some wildlife on the shore of the lake, doing the stuff that wildlife usually does (ie. eating).   The view from where we were sitting. I'd describe the fascinating scene in front of the boat, but it would destroy the pathos of what was an especially frustrating moment for me. I'm sure you can imagine.  Ahh, gotta love a big turtle. Or tortoise. It's hard to say from here. Or, indeed, there.
